Long-Distance Relationships:

There’s really nothing more heartbreaking than having to hug a piece of clothing that he had given me before I left, just slowly breathing the residual essence that managed to escape from his body from the last time he wore it, along with memories that play in my head while I embrace it. Being in a long-distance relationship means not being able to see each other for a span of weeks, months, or even years. It’s when all you have is several photos here and there, a button that you can click to make a video call, imperfect handwritten letters, words as your most significant tool and trust at its finest frailty. It’s when you have endless days and countless nights just missing each other, and wishing they were by your side - that… is a long-distance relationship.

BUT, long-distance relationships are more than just all of that. It’s also an opportunity to grow together, and to get to know each other even more. It’s the perfect time to prove to each other that what you have to offer is well-deserved. To be in a long-distance relationship comes with extra effort, extra understanding, extra care, and every aspect there is in a relationship, you just have to put in that little “extra” to make it work. Above all else, it also means that long-distance relationships call for an infinite amount of trust. And after many years of waiting, what you’ve both created is a relationship that has been greatly flawed by time yet managed to keep it together until the very end. Now… THAT is a beautiful relationship.
